CLOUD COMPUTING
Cloud computing is a recently evolved computing terminology or metaphor based on utility and consumption of computing resources. Cloud computing involves deploying groups of remote servers and software networks that allow centralized data storage and online access to computer services or resources.
Clouds can be classified as public, private or hybrid.Cloud computing[3] relies on sharing of resources to achieve coherence and economies of scale, similar to a utility (like the electricity grid) over a network. At the foundation of cloud computing is the broader concept of converged infrastructure and shared services.
VOICE AND DATA WIRING
Meridian designs and installs a wide range of inside structured cabling to accommodate telecommunications, data networks, paging systems, and CATV services. Common types of cable include Cat. 3, Cat 5e, Cat 6, Coax, and Fiber Optic.
To assist you in the planning process of a structured cabling project, we have provided a brief definition of structured cabling, along with a description of the different components of a structured cabling project. The term “structured cabling” refers to the cabling infrastructure in a building, campus, or multi-campus environment.
VOIP SYSTEMS
LEGACY: NORTEL AND AVAYA
Voice over IP (VoIP) is a methodology and group of technologies for the delivery of voicecommunications and multimedia sessions over Internet Protocol (IP) networks, such as the Internet. Other terms commonly associated with VoIP are IP telephony, Internet telephony, broadband telephony, and broadband phone service.
The term Internet telephony specifically refers to the provisioning of communications services (voice, fax, SMS, voice-messaging) over the public Internet, rather than via the public switched telephone network (PSTN).
DATA CENTER STORAGE
DISASTER RECOVERY
VIRTUALIZATION
A Data Center is a facility used to house computer systems and associated components, suchas telecommunications and storage systems. It generally includes redundant or backup power supplies, redundant data communications connections, environmental controls (e.g., air conditioning, fire suppression) and various security devices.
Large data centers are industrial scale operations using as much electricity as a small town. Data centers have their roots in the huge computer rooms of the early ages of the computing industry. Early computer systems were complex to operate and maintain, and required a special environment in which to operate.
Security was important – computers were expensive, and were often used for military purposes. Basic design guidelines for controlling access to the computer room were therefore devised.
